What do I, Barack Obama and Darth Vadar have in common?

By RickMeasham | November 2, 2008

Me chatting with Barack Obama

I’m a big fan of Penny Arcade, a comic strip about gaming — even though I’m not into gaming that much. Gabe, the artist, is just fantastic.

They recently released a game that features the characters from their comic strip called “On the rain slick precipice of darkness” which I’ve never played, but when I read on their blog the other day about some competition with something to do with something called a Cubee, I was intrigued. So I clicked on the link, went down the rabbit hole and found myself in wonderland.

Turns out a Cubee is something you can print on your regular home-grade inkjet printer. You then cut it up with an Approxoknife (Well, they say an exactoknife, but I don’t have one that accurate). Then fold the right places and push it all together. No glue, no tape.

Their site has Cubees of Darth Vadar, Mario, Hellboy and Bender as well as Special Editions of Obama (and McCain if that’s how you swing — though the loser will be removed after the US election) and the cast of Precipice of Darkness.

I’ve spoken before about my Avatar. And I have m@d, L337 Illustrator skillz. So I decided to put them to good use. This is about 11pm last night. By 2am I had designed and tested my own Cubee. There were problems, so I circled them and went to bed. This morning I got up, fixed the problems and folded my Cubee. You can download the PDF here.
