About Me

Avatar

This site is a collection of thoughts I have about anything and everything. From the serious to the seriously mundane.

I’m a perl and javascript programmer with a background in graphic design. I like long walks along the beach and stormy nights by the fire.

I’ve been married to Fatima since 2001, we have one boy on the way, a cat called Cous Cous and a kelpie-x called Roger. We’re buying our house and John Howard would probably call us ‘aspirational’ if he could get close enough without being punched in the face. Twice.

Policically, I guess you’d call me a leftie. I’m strong on social justice and believe corporations and the almighty dollar get too much of a say in our local, state and national agendas. I believe in caring for the environment, even if “we” didn’t cause the hole in the ozone layer. It’s our planet, it’s our home. If there’s a hold in the roof, you do something about it rather than just jumping around claiming you had nothing to do with it.

I’m a practicing Christian, though my theology is probably not aligned to anything mainstream. I was born into a Baptist family and these days go to Catholic mass three weeks a month.

I like tinkering with online stuff, especially with APIs of great services like Jaiku and Flickr. My current ‘pet project’ is jaikufans.com, a fan resource site for users of the Jaiku microblogging service. One day Google will buy it from me for a billion dollars.
